Ripple, the UK-based fintech specialising in enterprise blockchain and crypto solutions, has acquired Metaco, a Swiss-based provider of digital asset custody and tokenisation technology. Ripple, which has primarily operated in the cross-border payments space, will expand its offerings, providing clients with the technology to issue, settle and safekeep any type of tokenised asset. Metaco will accelerate its growth through access to Ripple’s established base of hundreds of clients, capital to address new demand, and resources to continue delivering on its commitment to banking and institutional clients. Metaco has signed a number of custodians as clients, including Citi, BNP Paribas and Zodia Custody. Ripple will become the sole shareholder of Metaco, which will continue to operate as an independent brand and business unit led by founder and CEO Adrien Treccani.
